The time has come again to go out to the sea.
Standing on the pier I hold you next to me.
As I hold you in my arms I feel you start to cry.
How I hate the days when I have to say goodbye.

I swore I wouldn't cry, you whispered in my ear.
It just hurts so much inside, to know you won't be here.
I recognize the pain you're feeling in your heart.
I haven't left your side, Though it feels we're miles apart.

We share a kiss or two though we never speak a word.
Our eyes just say I Love You, but the words are never heard.
As I turn to walk away, you kiss me one last time.
I tell you I'll be home soon, you tell me you'll be fine.

But a second lasts forever, when we're miles and miles apart.
And there's nothing quite as lonesome as the beat of a Sailor's Heart...
