The Elk

As I stood gazing into a stream,
Something caught my eye.
It was a huge Elk,
With a cow at his side.

Elk

They were magnificent creatures,
This elk and cow.
He raised his head and bugled.
His muscles were a sight.
He used everyone with all his might.
The bugle was tremendous,
Something I'd never heard before.

Elk

I stood there mystified,
At what I had heard and seen.
These beautiful, graceful creatures,
surely this must be a dream.
Then all of a sudden it was very real.
Yes, very real indeed.
As these beautiful creatures moved out of sight,
And into the green and golden trees.
